Tim was born in the United States in Cambridge Massachusetts to Elhami and Salwa Kaldas in 1984. His parents are immigrants to the States from Egypt. Tim grew up in the Boston area and developed a strong interest in politics and debate from an early age. In 2002 he moved to Washington D.C. to pursue his studies. In 2006 he received his BA in Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies with a minor in History from the George Washington University. During his time at GW he also studied Arabic for a summer at the American University of Cairo and International History for an academic year at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He then went on to pursue an MA in Arab Studies, again concentrating in Politics, from Georgetown University. Tim currently is living in Cairo, Egypt where he is a fellow at the Center for Arabic Study Abroad (CASA) at AUC.
