About Me

Hi,

Welcome to my blog. My name is Tim and I was born in the United States, raised there by my Egyptian immigrant parents. A couple of years ago I received a scholarship to study Arabic for a year at AUC at the Center for Arabic Study Abroad and so I decided to move back and familiarize myself with Egypt and the Arabic language. While here I continued to work on my photography doing a few odd jobs here and there. I shot a cover and ten page spread for (in)sight Magazine. A portrait I had shot while doing my Masters at Georgetown University was published in the French magazine DS and I took on a few photo-journalistic assignments working to supply reporters with images that complimented the stories they were working on. Some of my work can be found alongside articles of Al Masry Al Youm (English Edition). Then as my scholarship and studies were coming to an end I decided to stay in Cairo a bit longer and so I came to enter the field of wedding photography.

I’ve had the privilege and pleasure of photographing dozens of weddings during my time here in Cairo. Since starting in this business I’ve enjoyed meeting so many people and sharing in one of the most important days of their lives with them. Through my work I help assemble a set of photographs that will allow my clients to remember and cherish the events of that day for the rest of their lives. My goal with my photography is to document your day rather than stage it. I’m not the type of photographer that will keep shouting “3roosa” throughout your wedding trying to get you to look and smile at my camera (well… cameraS really ;-)) I prefer to capture your real smiles, tears and other moments of warmth along with those of your family and friends. Outside of the formal pictures taken before the reception I tend to avoid giving any sort of direction with an occasional exception if I see the potential for a really great shot with some minor adjustment. Today, I am the only member of the Wedding Photojournalists Association in the Arab World and one of two members on the continent of Africa. The WPJA is an excellent organization that allows in wedding photographers who are committed to photographing weddings as they happen naturally.

I like to encourage my clients to have me spend their entire wedding day with them; from the time the bride starts getting her makeup done to the end of the evening when the reception wraps up. My hope is that at the end of the day I’ve assembled a set of images that truly tell the unique story of your wedding day. I consider myself a wedding photojournalist. I am committed to providing you with the highest quality images. I spend hours everyday examining the work of and discussing photography with wedding photographers around the world learning the different trends in our craft and working to develop my own skills as a wedding photojournalist. I also invest heavily in acquiring the best possible cameras, lenses and lighting to ensure that the quality of your images is second to none. This is your wedding day and you deserve the best. I intend to provide it.  Please give me email me (timothy@timothykaldas.com) to arrange a meeting so that we can discuss the details of your special day and if I can be of service to you on it.

I truly believe that wedding photography is an investment. It’s an investment in memories you will cherish long into the future and share with your children and grandchildren.  All packages include a DVD with your photos edited at full resolution in a handmade Sami Amin leather DVD case. Clients can also purchase, at an additional cost, photo albums bound in leather by hand and loose prints of any size. Please contact me to learn more about our packages.

Thanks for visiting my site and I look forward to hearing from you.

Best

Tim

The best of luck in what you do, and hopefully if I will get married I need to have you there in that special day, because you do know how to capture real feeling behind the camera :)
