The Demonstrators of Tahrir and their Newspapers | February 6th 2011

This morning I went to Tahrir to see the Christian and Muslim prayers to be held. It was great to see the solidarity but something else that struck me upon arriving was the enormous number of people sitting and reading the paper all over the square. These images felt like the perfect response to all the people who think the people in Tahrir are illiterate or uninformed. Please share these images.

Egypt’s Largest Pro-Democracy Demonstrations in History… so far | February 1st 2011

Hello everyone. Internet has finally been restored in Egypt and I expect you’ll be receiving a flood of media from people who have been aching to get their photos and videos out to the rest of the world. I’ve been going to political demonstrations since I was 16 years old and I have never felt as emotional as I did yesterday when I stood atop a rooftop looking over the crowd that was overflowing in Tahrir (Liberation) Square yesterday afternoon. To watch a million people after decades of oppression demanding in unison freedom and the end to dictatorship was awe-inspiring. I cannot begin to describe how proud and privileged I felt witnessing this historic moment in Egypt.

I had been down in the square and could barely move because not only was the square filled with people but they were packed in there like sardines. The crowd was massive and people kept coming. The atmosphere was festive and it was clear that it was only a matter of time before the regime would have to submit to the will of the people. Below are images I captured of the day. The crowd was young and old, men and women, people of all faiths and whole families coming together. The atmosphere was polite peaceful and festive. Civilians organized security searching bags and checking people’s IDs as they entered the demonstration. Here are some images.

Karen and Bassel Wed at Katameya Heights in Cairo | Cairo Egypt Wedding Photography

Karen and Bassel were a great couple to work with who are among the most patient I have ever had as clients. Thanks again for that;-)They’re both a lot of fun and definitely know how to party. We started the day at the JW Marriott in New Cairo. Shady from Mohamed Sagheer did a brilliant job on Karen’s makeup and Karen was pretty ecstatic when he finished. Then my friend Mass Gharios came in to do Karen’s hair and was artful as always. Dina Iskander and her team did an amazing job decorating and lighting the Basilique Church in Korba and Katemeya Heights for the reception. My friend Ray quenched all the guests thirst with his masterful cocktail mixing skills. The DJ, Samba did a great job keeping the guests on the dance floor and making me work overtime. We were supposed to finish early! 15 and a half hours after I arrived at the JW Marriott to shoot Karen’s makeup the party had dwindled from around 700 guests to 20 or 30 and Bassel and I chatted at the bar before I headed off. That said I had a wonderful time and think we got some great photos. Let me know what you think.

Also I’d like to extend a special thanks to my friend Steve for loaning me his golf clubs for a special photo below. I need to get those back to you;-)
